Record number of business meetings at IPW Orlando
The U.S. Travel Association’s 47th annual IPW travel trade gathering has posted a new record in pre-scheduled business meetings.
The three-day event held earlier this week, generated a record of nearly 100,000 business meetings between travel buyers and US suppliers, which will generate a payoff of $4.7 billion in direct bookings to US destinations over the next three years, according to independent research.
"IPW is an extraordinarily unique event, which brings the entire international travel and tourism marketplace to the US in one location," said US Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow.
"The business conducted at IPW will have a tremendous effect, not only on the local economy initially, but several years into the future."
In the five years since the last IPW event was held in Orlando, there has been considerable growth in the number of travel buyers attending from key international markets.
The Mexico market has grown 66%, the UK 40% and this year saw the highest ever number of Chinese attendees at 109.
The U.S. Travel Association also announced IPW would return to Orlando again in 2022.
Chicago will host IPW in 2021, San Antonio, Texas, in 2023 and Los Angeles in 2024.
