Record year for Monarch
Monarch carried over 3.2 million scheduled passengers in 2006, a 23.9% increase on 2005 and a record breaking year for the airline.
Latest figures showed passenger traffic reached 166,697 in December, an 11.9% increase compared to December 2005.
The month’s load factors were 67.35%, compared to 58.44% in December 2005. Internet bookings accounted for 90% of bookings.
In 2007 Monarch expects to see further growth thanks to increased capacity on some popular routes and expansion into the Eastern Mediterranean with the first low-cost scheduled flights from the UK to Cyprus.
It will also introduce eight new routes which include Birmingham to Ibiza, London Gatwick to Ibiza and Murcia, London Luton to Almeria, Ibiza and Larnaca, and Manchester to Ibiza and Jerez
