Red Sea resort to host PGA EuroPro Tour
As Egypt’s tourism industry gradually rebounds, the country is making a push as a home for elite sporting events, and announced it will host the concluding event in the PGA EuroPro Tour 2014.
The Egyptian Tourist Authority will partner with The HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour to stage the final tournament on the Tour at the Red Sea’s El Gouna Golf Club.
The ‘Visit Egypt Tour Championship’ which is being supported by EgyptAir, will tee off from 29 – 31 October, 2014.
Prior to the Championship taking place, the Tour’s Order of Merit will be dubbed the ‘Race to El Gouna’ and the top ranked 60 golfers will be invited to battle it out in El Gouna for a £60,000 prize fund and £15,000 for the winner.
"El Gouna Golf Club will prove a fantastic setting for our season-finale, the Visit Egypt Tour Championship," said Daniel Godding, director of operations at the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour.
Omayma El Husseini, UK & Ireland director of the Egyptian Tourist Authority said: "It’s an honour to support the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour as a key sponsor, and to host the Visit Egypt Tour Championship, the pinnacle tournament in the Race to El Gouna and tour calendar, is even more significant as we continue to promote the country as a sports tourism destination."
