Reed Exhibitions’ group exhibition director for overseas travel events Matt Thomspon is joining the Beijing International Travel and Tourism Market.

He becomes project director for BITTM, which will be held for the third year at the China World Trade Centre in Beijing on May 14-16, 2007.

The show claims to be the only dedicated business-to-business outbound travel event in China and is organised by international media company Tarsus Group.

The show attracted more than 2,500 visitors and 124 exhibitors from 34 countries this year.

Thompson, who was responsible for shows such as Arabian Travel Market, CIS Travel Market, Mediterranean Travel Fair and Reed’s Singapore operations which ran PATA Travel Mart, said: “I am very excited to be joining BITTM at a time when the show has established itself in the market place and as the Chinese market begins to realise and unleash its huge potential. With outbound travel statistics predicted toreach 100 million annually by 2020, BITTM provides the perfect platform to reach such a dynamic and fast-moving industry.”
