Remind your customers it’s Census night

Travellers, including overseas visitors, are being reminded to take part in Australia’s Census tonight.

Every person in Australia except diplomats and their families should be included in the Census, wherever they are staying.

“This is not just a count of Australia’s permanent residents, it is a count of everyone in Australia on Census night,” the Head of Census Paul Williams said.

“Overseas visitors including tourists, backpackers and other visitors are all part of the Census count. If you are here on August 8 you need to be included on a form, even if you are only here for a short time.”

Those staying in paid accommodation such as hostels, guest houses, caravan parks, hotels, motels or serviced apartments will be given a Census form and instructions on how to complete it.

For those camping, travelling overnight, or in any unusual locations, special arrangements have been made to supply Census forms.

Call the Census Inquiry Service on 1300 362 883.

Census forms can also be filled in online.
