Resort guests flee sinkhole
Guests at a Florida resort ran for their lives when villas at the property fell into a 18m-wide sinkhole.
Guests at the Summer Bay Resort, about 10 minutes from Disney World, said they heard loud noises and windows cracking as three floors of the hotel slid into a deep crater.
Authorities said they were surprised that no one was injured.
Summer Bay is described on its website as a luxury resort with condominiums, two-bedroom villas and vacation houses.
Sinkholes are an ongoing problem in Florida. The state sits on limestone – a porous rock that easily dissolves in water – with a layer of clay on top.
