Ride malfunction kills tourist in China
A technical malfunction at a China tourist attraction has led to one death and 60 injuries.
The incident occurred at the Magic Carpet ride, a popular conveyance ride in the Detian waterfall scenic area in Guangxi Zhuang.
The scenic area is now closed indefinitely for maintenance and inspection.
Visitors who pre-purchased tickets have been advised to request refunds.
Local authorities set up an emergency response team to provide support to those injured.
The Magic Carpet ride can transport about 3,000 tourists per hour up a hill in the scenic area.
It malfunctioned previously last year which caused a few minor injuries.
