Royal Caribbean halts all Labadee calls
Royal Caribbean is postponing all cruise calls to its private island destination Labadee.
It takes immediate effect due to the civil unrest across the country.
“Due to the evolving situation in Haiti, and in an abundance of caution, we’re temporally suspending our Labadee cruises for our entire fleet,” a cruise line statement said.
“We continue to monitor and assess the situation with our Global Security & Intelligence Team.”
A number of ships were due to call at Labadee in the coming days.
These include the Symphony of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas and Grandeur of the Seas.
Guests on these ships have been informed of the revised itineraries which includes a call in the Bahamas or a day at sea.
Guests who prepaid for Labadee cruise shore excursions will be refunded.
There is a state of emergency in Haiti as gangs have overrun capital Port-au-Prince, with some experts warning it could be on the verge of civil war.
