Royal Caribbean latest line to hike gratuities
Higher gratuity fees are coming to Royal Caribbean early next year.
The line is hiking the automatic gratuity by a dollar to $14.50 per person, per day and $17.50 for passengers in suites.
The new rates take effect January 2, 2018.
Guests can lock in the current rate if gratuities are pre-paid before then.
Daily gratuities are shared amongst guest facing crew members such as culinary services staff, cabin attendants, and other hotel services employees.
"Royal Caribbean is constantly reviewing our competitive environment and this adjustment positions us in-line with our competitors. The additional gratuity collected will be disbursed to our onboard crew," the line said.
It last increased gratuities in May 2016.
