Royal Caribbean International’s parent company has ordered at least one 4,100 passenger ship that will be delivered in autumn 2014, with an option for another the following year.
The cruise ship operator has signed a letter of intent with German shipyard Meyer Werft.
The company’s chairman and chief executive officer Richard Fain would divulge little about the new class of ship, codenamed Project Sunshine, but said: “This next generation will not disappoint.”
He added: "It will offer features for everyone. From grand, spectacular spaces to small intimate settings; from active, invigorating activities to the serenity of more personal space; and from a plethora of dining alternatives to a cornucopia of opportunities for families."
