Royal Caribbean switches ship to Spanish arm
Royal Caribbean International is to transfer one of its older ships to the fleet of Spanish subsidiary Pullmantur.
The 2,020-passenger Empress of the Seas joined the Royal Caribbean fleet in 1990 and was refurbished three years ago.
The 48,563-ton ship’s last sailing for Royal Caribbean will be in March 2008. Empress of the Seas operates Bermuda cruises from the US in the summer and departs from Puerto Rico on short Caribbean itineraries in winter.
The line’s president Adam Goldstein said: “This transfer will help to increase Pullmantur’s capacity and meet demand for its distinctive style of cruise holidays in the European market.”
