Royal Caribbean takes the traditional route
Royal Caribbean has brought back its classic dining option following complaints from regular cruisers.
The cruise line had introduced a more relaxed buffet style ‘eat what you like, when you like’ policy in a bid to attract younger clients.
But more than a third of passengers who have booked onto their new ship, Anthem of the Seas, have requested the traditional dining arrangements – with formal sittings and formal dress.
Michael Bayley, president of Royal Caribbean, called the informal meals ‘dynamic dining’ and said they were introduced ‘so customers could have a complete choice and freedom about when and where they eat’.
"But we got feedback from a significant group of probably slightly more traditional guests who said ‘we don’t like this, we preferred it the way it was," he told the Daily Mail.
"For many of them this form of traditional dining in formal attire was one of the highlights of taking a cruise."
