Running in NYC

The Westin New York at Times Square, named one of America’s top 11 healthiest hotels, and City Running Tours, the largest guided running tour operator in the world, have teamed up to offer private, guided running tours of New York City.

“Now hotel guests may exercise while learning about the history, neighborhoods and sites of the 301-square-mile metropolis, named the third best running city in the US,” said the company.

In addition to guided running tours, The Westin New York at Times Square also offers Westin WORKOUT Rooms with an in-room treadmill or stationary bike and other workout equipment.

“Over the last few years we have found that people are looking for ways aside from the treadmill to maintain their fitness regime while on the road,” said Karen Colliton-Thomson, director of sales and marketing for The Westin New York at Times Square. She added:

“A guided running tour allows business or pleasure travelers to see and learn about all that New York has to offer while getting some healthy exercise.”

Travelers may custom-make their own route or choose from 20 runs.

All runs begin and end at the hotel and are led by licensed guides.  The tours can be either one-on-one or in groups and occur entirely on the traveler’s schedule — 365 days a year, 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.

Pricing starts at $60 per person for the first six miles, and $6 per person for each mile thereafter.  Five percent of all fees are donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Participants receive a t-shirt, a photo and running-stores discounts.
