RWA’S Sell-It Suite To Use Galileo Web Services

Thursday, 07 Aug, 2003 0

RWA is implementing an interface to Galileo using Galileo’s new Web Services offering. This will enhance RWA’s Sell-It Suite products by providing functionally rich, yet low cost access to Galileo for confirming availability and prices prior to completing the online booking process.

RWA’s industry leading Sell-It Suite family of solutions is being enhanced with access to Galileo using Galileo’s Web Services offering, which was launched globally in May 2003. The Sell-It Galileo functionality, which will be available in the next few weeks, will provide Sell-It Suite customers with the ability to check availability of specific negotiated fares and obtain published fares for a specific flight on a specific date before making the online booking.

Mark Bradbury, Director of Business Development at RWA commented, “We selected Galileo’s web services offering as this provides us with low-cost Galileo access in a manner which is consistent and compatible with the web services architecture upon which our Sell-It Suite family of solutions is based. The Galileo functionality we will be delivering shortly will provide significant enhancements to Sell-It Suite for Tour Operators that include scheduled flights in their holiday products. The specific functionality being developed is based on extensive discussions with a number of Tour Operators.”

Riaan van Schoor, Head of eSolutions for Galileo’s EMEA region is delighted with this latest demonstration of how Galileo’s Web Services is delivering real benefits to its customers.
“Providing low cost access to much richer content was one of the key drivers behind our development of Galileo Web Services. By using industry standard architecture and language, it means that companies such as RWA can develop these solutions faster and without the need for specific travel industry knowledge. I believe that RWA’s use of Galileo Web Services to enhance the Sell-It Suite will add real value to its customers“.

About Galileo’s Web Services

The first GDS to bring Web Services to the travel market on a global basis, Galileo Web Services enables travel agencies, technology development partners and suppliers of air, hotel, car, rail and cruise services to seamlessly integrate Galileo data and functions into their applications via the Internet, thereby reducing development time, effort, maintenance and operating costs.

Because there is no need for hardware such as servers and dedicated lines, information can now be integrated “regardless of what operating platform each system resides on, or what language each system is written in.” Galileo Web Services are built on the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) which allows applications to communicate over the internet, independent of platform and using structured XML data from Galileo’s systems.

Costs are kept low because there is less call for developer knowledge of the travel business and Galileo-specific GDS commands. Prepackaged modules aim to cut costs further. These cover reservations, trip planning, flight information, itinerary viewing and travel codes translation.
