Ryanair announces another seat sale
Ryanair has announced another huge seat sale – selling off some 900,000 seats at 90p each – but admitted that it only expects to shift around half of them.
The cheap seats, which the carrier said would average at around £29.50 return once taxes are added, are available until Monday night.
Michael O’Leary, the group’s chief executive, announcing the seat sale that is to celebrate the carrier’s 90 millionth passenger, admitted that it was only likely to sell around 500,000 of the tickets.
The Daily Telegraph quotes Mr O’Leary as saying: “We are trying to generate additional bookings at a quiet time because people are on holiday.”
Mr O’Leary is also reported to have mentioned how much he is still enjoying running the no-frills carrier: “This is the most fun you can have with your clothes on,” he reportedly said.
