Ryanair names new chief exec
Ryanair’s chief people officer, Eddie Wilson, has been named new CEO of the airline.
He takes over from Michael O’Leary, who has become CEO of the Ryanair Group.
O’Leary signed the deal earlier this year and now oversees other brands including Laudamotion and Buzz.
He described Wilson as ‘a 22-year veteran of the Ryanair success story’.
Wilson joined in 1997 and has been the chief negotiator with unions over the past two years.
In a message to staff, O’Leary said: "Eddie will report directly to me as Group CEO and will join my weekly meeting, which will be attended by the chief executives of Ryanair DAC, Buzz, Laudamotion and Malta Air."
"Eddie will take up this position immediately and this will start a transition process over the next three months of taking over from myself, the running of the Monday morning management meeting and all the senior Z level managers at that meeting will, from 1 September, report directly to Eddie.
"In this position, Eddie will report directly to me as Group CEO and will join my weekly meeting, which will be attended by the chief executives of Ryanair DAC, Buzz, Laudamotion and Malta Air."
