Ryanair pilots announce pre-Christmas strike
Ryanair’s Dublin-based pilots who are members of IALPA have announced a 24-hour strike on December 20 in a row over union recognition.
The 79 pilots, who are mainly captains, will walk out at midnight next Wednesday.
Ryanair, which refuses to engage with trade unions, said the IALPA members represented only 28% of its Dublin pilots.
In a statement, the airline said there would be some disruption as a result of the strike, which it claimed would be confined to only a small group of pilots are working their notice and will shortly leave the airline.
It added: "Ryanair will deal with any such disruptions if, or when they arise, and we apologise sincerely to customers for any upset or worry this threatened action by less than 28% of our Dublin pilots may cause them over the coming days."
