Bangu Masisi, South Africa Tourism’s general manager for Australasia, is heading for a new role in The Netherlands.

She has been appointed as the country manager Netherlands and will also keep a watching brief on Belgium. She will take up her new position on September 1.

In the Sydney office since 2004, Masisi has led the marketing and trade efforts that saw South Africa reach the milestone figure of 100,000 Australian arrivals in 2008.

“Masisi has achieved fantastic results in the Australasian market. Her leadership, experience, personality and dedication to South Africa as a leading tourism destination has made a significant contribution to the achievement of our goals in the region,” said Thandiwe January-McLean, CEO, SA Tourism.

South Africa’s trade showcase and Business Tourism IMBIZO 2010 will travel across Australia from August 30.

SA Tourism has yet to announce a replacement for Masisi.
