Sabre claims top spot in low fare searches
Sabre Travel Network has published research showing it saves customers almost 20% per ticket when searching for the lowest fares compared to rivals.
The global distribution system, in conjunction with Topaz International, conducted research in 204 of the top markets across the globe to assess low-fare search capability. Fare searches on both domestic and international routes were compared for the study.
The GDS claims it saves customers an average of:
– 14% in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region
– 29% in the Asia Pacific region and,
– 19% in the Latin America region
A similar study conducted by Sabre in 2006 in North America showed the GDS was saving an average of 7% per low-fare ticket.
This latest study also shows Sabre has improved upon its search performance in 2005 when it found the same or lower fare as its closest competitor 72% of the time. Following investment in new technology the GDS claims to be finding the same or lower fares almost 90% of the time.
