Sabre in distribution deal with Onelink4travel
Sabre Travel Network Europe has forged a distribution deal with internet-based travel portal Onelink4travel.
The agreement is designed to marry travel content up with travel agents, initially offering hotel and car rental bookings.
Onelink4tavel plans to develop to include rail and other sectors. It already has a distribution agreement with The Train Chartering Company, which offers access to tourist and speciality trains around the world.
The deal comes as Sabre seeks to further penetrate the leisure travel sector in the UK and Europe.
Bill Guerin, chairman and CEO of Onelink4travel, said: “We will soon be able to offer all the major travel companies that distribute through the Sabre GDS the ability to distribute pre-paid products to travel agents worldwide through the Onelink4travel portal.”
Agents will receive commissions upfront for hotel and car rental bookings initially as they currently do with most scheduled airline bookings, according to the company.
Train Chartering operations director Fay Lejeune said: “The 21st century is witnessing the renaissance of rail as business travellers and tourists discover the convenience and benefits of trains. As interest in rail travel grows, so also does the fascination with tourist and luxury trains. However, both scheduled and special trains need an effective distribution and settlement channel to travel agents.”
