Sabre names another eight wins

Sunday, 29 Jun, 2004 0

Sabre Travel Network has named eight more travel agents that make up its record agency wins tally for this month.

The GDS sparked a heated exchange with rivals Galileo when it announced a record 14 wins, now 15, for the month of June.

In addition to the three agents already named, Sabre has now named Eton Travel, which has two branches in Berkshire. The other seven agents are from the UNIGLOBE group.

Eton Travel came to Sabre from Galileo, while the UNIGLOBE agents were a mixture of Galileo and Worldspan, mostly Worldspan. The announcement means Sabre handles nearly 70% of all UNIGLOBE bookings, according to the GDS.

Sabre has had a good month. It was named as the preferred GDS for the Advantage group last week and was one of two GDSs (the other was Galileo) to strike a deal with Flybe to get agents access to its web fares. The other three agency wins named earlier this month were Uniglobe Preferred, Phileas Fogg Travel and Uniglobe Island Travel.
