Saigontourist pushes budget, shopping tours
HO CHI MINH CITY – Travel conglomerate Saigontourist is to join Vietnam Airlines in refreshing tourist promotion campaigns.
It will also cooperate with hotels and tour operators to launch budget tours and shopping excursions for international visitors.
In 2008 Saigontourist looked after more than 1.5 million guests to Vietnam. The number of tourists booking domestic tours rose 2.1 percent.
The number of cruise ship visitors to Vietnam rose to 126,450, three times last year’s figure.
Overall, Vietnam welcomed 4.25 million tourists in 2008, falling short of its target of 4.9 million.
Saigontourist owns Ho Chi Minh City’s Rex, Grand, Majestic and Continental Hotels. The latter will be refurbished this year.
