SAS launching LA, Miami flights next year
Scandinavian carrier SAS will beginning flying to Los Angeles and Miami next year in a new bid to capture more of the US transatlantic market.
Starting March 14, the airline will launch flights between Stockholm and Los Angeles.
SAS said it will offer daily flights on the route during the summer schedule, dropping back to ‘five to six weekly flights’ in winter.
Reservations go live for the route today.
SAS will start transatlantic services to Miami in the fall 2016 from two Scandinavian cities.
Daily flights to MIA will be split between departures from Oslo, Norway four times a week and the Danish capital Copenhagen three times a week.
Airbus A330 and A340 jets will be used on the new routes.
"We are looking forward to offering our customers new travel opportunities and giving them a warm welcome onboard our aircraft," said Rickard Gustafson, CEO of SAS.
SAS also flies to New York, Washington, Chicago, San Francisco and Houston.
These new routes from SAS were not the only new flights announced linking Scandinavia with North America.
Low cost carrier Norwegian Air will begin operating new flights to Boston, from Oslo and Copenhagen, while Icelandair will make Montreal its latest destination with a seasonal service from Keflavik International Airport from May 19 next year.
