School’s out for summer
School is out for summer and college students can’t wait to hit the road – and sky – to get far away from those text books, but where are they going? Leading online student and faculty travel provider StudentUniverse.com today announced its findings on where U.S. college students are traveling most this summer and international destinations top the list.
The top destinations for U.S. College students traveling to Europe are London, Paris and Rome, and the top destinations for those traveling within the United States are New York and Miami.
"The summer is the ideal time for college students to take to the skies and make the most of their time outside of the classroom," said Atle Skalleberg, head of research and marketing for StudentUniverse.com. "We are excited to see that in light of the current economy, students are still traveling abroad, and that we are able to provide fares for students that are on average 10-15 percent less than those available to the general public on other travel websites."
StudentUniverse.com is also making it easier for travelers to search destinations and airfares faster and easier than ever with the new FarePlay feature. The FarePlay service allows students to search for cheap airfares by region of the world or by theme such as Popular European Cities or by budget parameters. Each theme will reveal a different set of destination results, maximizing the options of discounted flights for prospective travelers. Previously, users would have to conduct multiple searches to multiple destinations to get the same results with just one search using FarePlay.
