Scoot launching low cost flights to Laos
Singapore Airlines’ low cost unit Scoot will begin flying to Laos in April.
Scoot will operate flights three times a week touching down in both Lao capital Vientiane, and Luang Prabang.
The circular route stops first at Luang Prabang and then to Vientiane before returning to Singapore.
The routes were transferred from sister airline SilkAir.
The Laos services are the start of a series of new routes for the budget carrier as parent company SIA shifts several routes from Silkair to Scoot.
With the addition of Laos, Scoot’s network covers 19 countries and territories.
It is now the only nonstop service connecting Singapore and Laos.
Lao Airlines relaunched direct Laos-Singapore flights in 2017 but halted it after just a few months.
"We are thrilled to welcome Laos to our network. We are confident that the addition of Vientiane and Luang Prabang will boost Scoot’s proposition as a network carrier offering refreshing travel opportunities," said Scoot CEO Lee Lik Hsin.
