Scottish Thistle Sustainable Winner Announced

The winners of the sustainable tourism section of VisitScotland’s Thistle 2008 awards have just been announced.

Finallists were:

Radisson SAS Hotel, Edinburgh
EAE Ltd, Leaflet marketing service, Edinburgh
Maximilian Events, Edinburgh

And the winner was:

“Recently named one of the top 10 green hotels in the UK by Smart Planet, the Radisson SAS hotel in Edinburgh is a market leader in sustainable tourism practices in Scotland. The hotel’s new programme, Responsible Business, presents a framework for the company to integrate environmental and social responsibility into the operation and management of the hotel, reduce its carbon footprint and, at the same time, continue to contribute towards increasing high value tourism in Scotland.”

“By making every effort to educate customers on sustainable issues, helping other Scottish tourism business to become more sustainable, and encouraging 100 per cent participation form staff, the Radisson SAS is playing a huge part in Scotland’s aspiration to become a carbon neutral destination.”
