SeaFrance sales chief achieves milestone

He helped set up the UK arm of the French ferry operator which has grown from one member of staff to almost 200 operating a fleet of six ships on the Dover-Calais route.
Laidlaw’s career began working as an office boy for P&O Ferries. He went on to work on a number of high profile shipping projects, including setting up a fast ferry service for Qatar Shipping between Doha, Bahrain and Dubai.
He worked for ten years as managing director of Sealink Newhaven-Dieppe Ferries before setting up SeaFrance in in UK 1995 when Newhaven-Dieppe Ferries withdrew from the Sealink British Ferries pool.
Laidlaw said: “Over the years I’ve seen fantastic growth in the ferry market and the development of new ships which has lifted the industry way beyond anybody’s expectations.”
