Search continues for missing Alaska passenger plane
Search and rescue crews continue scouring coastal areas of Alaska Friday morning after a small commercial aircraft went missing.
The Bering Air Caravan was carrying nine passengers and a pilot.
It departed Unalakleet to Nome when it disappeared from radar.
Its last known tracked location was just 12 miles off the coast.
The pilot had apparently told Air Traffic Control ‘he intended to enter a holding pattern while waiting for the runway to be cleared.’
Officials said the poor weather is making the search more difficult.
Multiple agencies including the military are assisting with search and rescue efforts on the ground and in the air.
Bering Air is a small commercial airline based in Nome.
It operates regional passenger service, as well as charter and cargo flights.
