See who’s out in front in this year’s British Travel Awards
Travel companies have less than two weeks left to check how they are doing in this year’s British Travel Awards (BTA) on its Leaderboard.
Published each Monday during the month of August, the Leaderboard shows how many votes have been cast so far.
The last Leaderboard will be published on August 27, giving companies just over four more weeks to complete their lobbying campaigns before voting closes on September 30.
"Since voting began last month the BTA tracking software has identified a number of voting spikes for individual nominees, significantly increasing their vote count," said BTA CEO Lorraine Barnes Burton.
"This would suggest nominees who take the time to target their customers with a "call to action" via direct email, or other one-to-one communication channels, realise the most positive response.
"Voting activity reaches its peak during September, when the majority of consumers return from their annual break, with their holiday experience fresh in their mind. But, the successful companies are those who lobby throughout the voting cycle to build a bank of support prior to the last-minute rush.
"There is, however, no place for complacency, we know some companies hold back from their lobbying campaigns until September when they can achieve a surge of votes without the leaderboard scrutiny of their competitors. Those lagging behind can still catch up!"
A quick check of the Leaderboard this week by TravelMole shows James Villa Holidays way out ahead in the Best Family Holiday Company, with Crystal and Neilson in a close battle for first place in the Best Ski and Winter Sports Holiday Company.
There’s not much between Kuoni, Pure Destinations and Secret Escapes in the Best Luxury Holiday Company category and Mercury Holidays is flying high among the all-inclusive holiday companies.
Honeymoon Dreams and Virgin Holidays are almost neck and neck in the Best Weddings and Honeymoons category.
