Seeking the biggest cheapskate

What lengths would travelers go to for a free trip? CheapTickets.com says it has the answer.

“Three-quarters of vacationers said they would gladly sacrifice their seats to receive a free airline ticket,” says the site.

The site is sponsoring a “Show Us Your Cheap” travel contest through the end of this month. Four grand prize winners may be featured in CheapTickets’ print and radio advertising and online at CheapTickets.com.

Participants may also win an “Ultimate Vacation Package” — a five-day, four-night getaway for four, including air, hotel and car rental, to the winners’ destination of choice anywhere in the continental United States.

“Show Us Your Cheap builds on the foundation of the CheapTickets ‘Real People’ ad campaign which has always focused on travelers taking pride in finding a great deal,” said Tom Russell, Group VP of Brand Marketing.

To enter the contest, participants simply visit www.cheaptickets.com/yourstory and follow the instructions to upload a photograph of themselves, family or friends on vacation, along with a personal story (500 words or less).

The “Show Us Your Cheap” print ad campaign will run in early July 2008 in travel and leisure publications including People, USA Weekend, Budget Travel, Everyday with Rachael Ray and O-The Oprah Magazine.
