Sharp rise in package holiday sales
Sales of half-board holidays are up by over 50%, according to research by The Co-operative Travel.
The group says research of over 110,000 bookings shows that half-board holidays are up by 53.6%, while all-inclusive holidays have risen by 22.4%, compared to the same period last year.
The independent agency chains believe this shows Brits are returning to the high street to book traditional package holidays.
It believes customers are attracted by the ability to fix costs ahead of travel, rather than organising DIY bookings online.
Director of retail distribution Trevor Davis said: “People are making a return to booking their holidays on the high street after the travel chaos of last year.”
