Shooting outside Florida beach hotel
Clearwater Beach was closed yesterday after a shooting broke out outside the Hyatt Regency hotel.
Two people were shot and eight were taken into custody for questioning after a flight broke out and shots were fired at the popular Florida beach.
The beach was cut off while police attended the scene but was later re-opened.
Beachgoers ran for cover during the incident, which happened early evening on the busy Memorial Day holiday.
According to local reports, one person was shot in the hand and fled while another was shot in the groin and was taken to hospital.
It is believed some shots were fired from the car park of the hotel while others were fired close to the beach’s famous Pier 60.
Police are still investigating the shooting but haven’t ruled out that it was gang related.
