SilkAir boosts Cairns services to daily

Wednesday, 17 Dec, 2018 0

Singapore Airlines’ regional unit SilkAir is expanding its Cairns-Singapore schedule to a daily service from 2019.

From June 2, 2019 the carrier is adding flights on Tuesdays and Sundays, making it a daily service, deploying Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

Silkair’s MAX 8 jets offer a dozen business class seats and 144 main cabin economy seats.

Silkair launched Cairns flights in 2015.

The expansion to daily service offers ‘greater accessibility and connectivity for out customers," said CEO Foo Chai Woo.

"Together with Tourism and Events Queensland we look forward to bringing even more travellers to Australia’s adventure capital."

Silkair is the only carrier serving the Singapore-Cairns route, which saw traffic grow by more than one-third during the last fiscal year.
