Silverjet makes senior appointment
Silverjet, the all-business class London-New York airline, has named Andria Piekarz as president US with responsibility for Silverjet’s US operation.
Piekarz has over 18 years experience of marketing, brand, sales, e-commerce and strategic customer management in the travel industry.
She was previously executive vice president for market development for STA Travel, where her responsibilities included the management and rapid development of the company’s internet presence.
Before that she held a number of other positions at STA, including director of national sales operations and VP sales and marketing, and also developed STA’s North American sales channels including agents, wholesalers, call centre and retail.
The Silverjet senior management team, led by CEO Lawrence Hunt, is now in place.
A spokesman said the low-fares airline was now recruiting for pilots and cabin crew in preparation for a planned pre-Christmas launch.
Silverjet will initially fly from London Luton Airport to New York Newark with average fares at £999, and plans to add further routes at a later stage.
In May it successfully raised £25.3m from institutional and other investors.
