Silversea chairman takes majority stake in Abercrombie & Kent
Silversea Cruises chairman Manfredi Lefebvre has teamed up with Abercrombie & Kent founder Geoffrey Kent to take control of A&K.
They have acquired the business from real estate company Zhonghong Holdings Group, with Lefebvre’s Heritage Group taking a 85% shareholding with Kent owning the remaining 15%.
Both men have been friends and occasional business partners for more than 20 years.
Lefebvre said it is a ‘separate and unique’ transaction via his Heritage Group business that doesn’t involve the Silversea Cruises business.
Royal Caribbean Group acquired a 66% stake in Siversea last year.
Abercrombie & Kent’s network of DMCs comprise 56 offices in 26 countries.
"Abercrombie & Kent is the finest luxury travel company in the world, and I am honored to be able to partner with Geoffrey Kent to help this remarkable company continue its record growth," Lefebvre said.
Kent said: "I am very excited to be working with Manfredi. I cannot think of a better or more experienced partner for the next phase of A&K’s growth."
A&K was founded back in 1962.
The deal is expected to be finalized later this year.
