Silversea embarking on largest ship refurbishment program

Monday, 04 Aug, 2016 0
Silversea cruise line has announced it is to refurbish its fleet at a cost of $170 million.

Silver Whisper, host to the iconic World Cruise, and Silver Wind, will both be refurbished by the end of this year.

The suites on Silver Whisper will be refreshed and emperor marble flooring installed in the bathrooms. The pool will be retiled and new flooring laid in the dining areas at The Restaurant and La Terrazza.

Internet speeds onboard will also be improved so guests can take advantage of new interactive TVs and on demand movies available.

"We are thrilled to be moving ahead with these major refurbishments and look forward to welcoming guests aboard and sharing our unique vision of ultra-luxury cruising, both in terms of service and physical environment," said chairman Manfredi Lefebvre.

"We pride ourselves on being the reference when it comes to ultra-luxury cruising and this investment reflects our long-term commitment in this regard toward our ships, our guests and our crew."

Sister ship Silver Wind will undergo similar refurbishments while in dry dock in October, during which the pool deck will be completely replaced.

On Silver Discoverer, The Restaurant will be redecorated in lighter, more contemporary colors and the pool grill area will have new furniture. The Discoverer Lounge will be transformed from a breakfast venue to a lounge area.

Further details on the fleet-wide refurbishment will be announced shortly, it said.
