Singapore Airlines flies with strong set of numbers

Singapore Airlines continues to gain altitude with an improved June performance.

Strong holiday demand and a general improvement in the economic environment contributed to the growth in passenger load factors, the airline said.

In June, SIA registered 11.4% year-on-year growth in systemwide passenger carriage (measured in revenue passenger kilometres), which outpaced the increase in capacity (measured in available seat kilometres) of 1.8%.

This led to an improvement in the passenger load factor of 7.1 percentage points to 82.8%. The number of passengers carried rose by 7.7% over the same month last year to 1.4 million.

The year-on-year increase in capacity arose from the injection of additional frequencies to the Americas (Newark and Houston), South West Pacific (Perth and Brisbane), North Asia (Fukuoka, Hong Kong, Beijing and Incheon), West Asia and Africa (Mumbai, Delhi, Dhaka, Male and Colombo) and the introduction of new services to Munich.
