Singapore to stop stamping foreign passports
Starting next week, foreign travellers will no longer get a stamp in their passports when exiting Singapore.
The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said it will stop issuing departure date stamps on travel documents, in order to ensure an ‘efficient departure immigration clearance.’
All foreigners departing Singapore currently have their passports stamped with the date of their departure at immigration desks.
The ICA said foreign travellers enrolled via the BioScreen fingerprint system upon their arrival into Singapore can use automated lanes on departure from Singapore.
"They do not receive departure immigration endorsements when they use the automated lanes," the ICA said in a statement.
