Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has announced it will build a new water park in China.

The US theme park operator has inked an agreement with Riverside Investment Group for the construction of Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Haiyan which will feature water slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and a kid’s water play zone.

It will be sited adjacent to the new Six Flags Zhejiang theme park, its first branded park in China which is under construction.

Both facilities are due to open together in 2019.

At the same time Six Flags announced the appointment of Mark Kane as general manager and park president of Six Flags Zhejiang.

"Mark is a proven leader and a trailblazer.  His expansive knowledge of the theme park industry and experience overseeing a massive development project from start to finish is a major plus," said John Odum, President, Six Flags International Development Company.

Kane was previously park president for Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags New England.

"Riverside Investment Group’s reputation as a premier real estate and tourism developer will solidify Six Flags Zhejiang and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor as best-in-class global entertainment destinations," Odum added.
