Sixteen die in Polish train crash
A train collision on the Warsaw to Krakow mainline in southern Poland has left 16 people dead and 26 seriously injured.
Another 27 were also injured although less seriously in Saturday’s crash.
The accident saw two express trains, one of which was on the wrong track, colliding head-on at Szczekociny staion, a senior railway official said.
President Bronislaw Komorowski has said he will announce a period of national mourning once emergency teams have completed their work to remove the wreckage from the track.
The two trains, comprising 10 carriages in total, were carrying an estimated 350 passengers at the time of the crash.
