Ski expert spills the beans
In the first of our new series of ski snap chats, TravelMole quizzed Neilson’s head of sales and marketing Dean Robinson.
Are you a skier or a boarder?
Definitely a skier, since the age of four. I tried snowboarding a few times, but my legs are built for skiing from such a young age, I found it difficult to swap!
What’s best, early season or spring skiing?
I love both, Christmas is a great time to get away from all the cooking and finding the spare chairs for the Christmas dinner, but clear blue sky days in spring are amazing, it feels like the start of a summer holiday!
Do you bash the blacks or cruise the blues?
A mix of both, I actually start with some red runs onto a few steep black runs (not too many before the legs get tired) and after a leisurely lunch, cruise the blues back to the village.
Hotel or self-catering? Always hotel so that I can be wined and dined. I also like staying in a chalet as it feels like home from home – total relaxation.
Ski with family or friends?
If I have time for both, skiing with the family is great, especially at Christmas to spend quality time together, but last season I skied with a group of friends staying in a chalet which is great fun. We were all different abilities, but we met up for lunch everyday day to share the morning’s stories.
Apres-ski or disco nap?
Always apres, but I can’t handle it every day so I mix it up with apr-¨s drinks and live band, to a spa afternoon and even a ride with the huskies.
