Skibound chef drowns in French ski resort
A British teenager who was working for school ski specialist Skibound has drowned at a popular French ski resort after climbing a fence to take a late-night swim at an outdoor pool.
Lucy Sallis, 19, from Bognor Regis, West Sussex, had been working in the kitchen at La Belle Aurore hotel in Alpe d’Huez.
Police said she was part of a group that scaled a two-metre fence to access the heated municipal pool, according to the Times. Ms Sallis took off her clothes and jumped in.
When her friends realised that she had not resurfaced, they looked under a protective sheet covering part of the pool and found her body. They called the emergency services but attempts to revive her failed.
Police said the group had been drinking, but not to excess. A post-mortem has yet to take place.
"It was apparently a tragic accident but the investigation is still in progress," said Jean-Yves Noiret, the Mayor.
