Sky News exposes airport security
A reporter from the Sky News network is claiming to have carried two knives on to an easyJet flight from Geneva to London, getting through two separate security checks. Juliet Errington says she bought a knife with a 10cm blade and a jagged edge – illegal to carry in the UK – from a gift shop in Geneva. After checking the knife in as hand luggage, she went through passport control and then bought a Swiss army knife in duty free. The knife bought in the duty free shop was picked up on the scan but the other was not – and both were allowed on to the flight. The reporter than sat near the cockpit on the flight. Geneva airport has reportedly stated that it is taking the story very seriously and has vowed to investigate; easyJet is reported to be saying that “it can do nothing about the situation”.
