Skyscanner, Wotif take flight together
Global travel search site Skyscanner has signed a partnership with the Wotif Group to display the group’s flight search results across its site and mobile apps.
Users searching for international flights on Skyscanner will now see all flights provided by the Wotif Group of brands including lastminute.com.au and Travel.com.au displayed within their search results.
The partnership comes as Skyscanner continues to gain market share significantly in Australia, rising to number six in the Hitwise top 10 travel agency site rankings.
Skyscanner’s growth in Australia has been fuelled by use of its mobile apps for iOS, Android, Windows and BlackBerry, which have now been downloaded 20m times worldwide.
In Australia, traffic to Skyscanner via mobile compared to desktop is among the highest in the world at over 70% mobile v 30% desktop.
Skyscanner said it now receives more than 50m visits per month worldwide, around three million of which are in Australia.
In 2012, the company said it generated global downstream revenue for airline and online travel agent partners of more than A$3.5bn, a figure that is expected to grow significantly in 2013.
