SLS hotels expanding to Mexico
Following Sam Nazarian’s return to the fold as head of SBE Entertainment Group, the company announced an expansion plan for five hotels in Mexico.
The company says it will manage five resort hotels to be developed by Mexican firm Armar Group in various locations under its SLS hotel brand.
The first project will be a 200-room hotel with an additional 250 residential units in Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas, with a planned 2017 opening.
It will be followed by a 150-room hotel planned for Cancun.
Three further properties are slated for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico City and Punta Mita, just outside of Puerto Vallarta.
Nazarian had taken a leave of absence since the end of 2014 at the behest of Nevada gaming regulators following the discovery of illegal drug use and payments to alleged racketeers.
He has rejoined SBE as chairman and chief executive following a shake-up at board level with executives from private equity firm Cain Hoy Enterprises leaving the company.
SBE Entertainment Group has interests in 51 restaurants, 17 nightclubs and six hotels in the US.
