Snake on the loose inside airport

Monday, 13 Jan, 2016 0
There was a shock for a passenger newly arrived from a flight at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, when she discovered a snake on her baggage trolley as she was pushing through the arrivals hall.

Described by the airport authorities as ‘a small baby snake’, it is believed the reptile slipped into the airport from outside rather than brought in by another passenger or via air cargo.

The incident is being investigated.

An Airports of Thailand statement said: "After being alerted, security officers captured the snake right away and no passengers were injured."

Officials assured passengers ‘clear and strict measures have been imposed to prevent all poisonous animals from slipping into the airport’s buildings.’

The exact species of the snake is unknown but local snake expert Thanaphong Tawan said it appeared to be a non-poisonous Malayan Bridle snake based on photos release to the media.

Meanwhile a Chinese tourist in Phuket has received compensation after being bitten by a python during a snake show on the resort island.
