Snow sculptures unveiled in Tyrolean resort
Teams of sculptors from Germany, Switzerland and Italy have created a series of snow sculptures on the slopes of Ischgl in the Austrian Tyrol.
The sculptures mark the silver anniversary of the resort’s Shapes in White exhibition.
The artworks were created in just five days using a total of 50 tonnes of snow in piles of up to 10m high.
Shapes in White was launched in 1994 when the resort’s Tourist Association invited sculptors to make creations from the abundance of snow that was piled up after snow machines had groomed the pistes.
The concept became an annual event, demonstrating the resort’s snowsure reputation.
