Gatwick Airport suffered a 10.7% fall in passenger numbers year-on-year in December thanks to the snow.
But the airport says its quick actions after the first snow fall at the start of December, when it spent £8 million on 48 new snow clearing vehicles, meant it was able to open the airport during the second dump just five hours after closing.

The figures show that, after the snowfall and subsequent disruption is put aside, the airport actually saw an underlying growth trend in passenger numbers of around 2.6%.
