South Africa hunts US visitors

Guess who’s coming to the US, tourism-wise? South Africa.

South African Tourism has launched a web-based travel campaign targeting US travelers with destinations and icons.

The theme: that country offers a rich variety of attractions that includes wildlife, history, wines, scenery and more than 1,500 miles of beaches.

The “My South Africa” campaign uses the images of iconic South African personalities to highlight the country’s cultural diversity and affordable luxury vacation options.

Set against a crimson backdrop, the “My South Africa” web site unfolds with some of South Africa’s most inspirational and recognizable figures, including former President Nelson Mandela, the legendary warrior Shaka Zulu, the forefather of conservation in South Africa, Paul Kruger and the Rain Queen of the Limpopo Province.

Users are also encouraged to e-mail a message from each of the featured personalities to a friend.

Instrumental to the campaign, visitors are encouraged to find a travel package to suit their needs, from a seven-day “Taste of South Africa” package from $1,999 to twelve days in “The Heart of South Africa” for $4,999 including airfare.

For more information about My South Africa, call 800-593-1318 or visit www.southafrica.net/usdeals.
