Southampton airport claims 30% growth

Passengers using Southampton airport in August grew by 29.9% to an average of 6,370 a day oveer the same month last year.

The BAA regional airport is now contributing £86 million to the local economy,a ccording to research by Southampton University.

The airport’s managing director David Cumming said: “We continue to operate more flights and serve more destinations than ever before, and are pleased wo announce a new route to Berne this winter with Flybe.

“Southampton airport is continually investing in its future and the growth in passenger numbers is testament to the dedication of all 1,200 staff who work here.”
